Westfield Road, Slyfield Industrial Estate

HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORT

Westfield Road, Slyfield Industrial Estate

We are transforming the area surrounding the Slyfield Industrial Estate by providing a new Internal Estate Road. The new road will provide access to the new Thames Water sewage treatment facility and the new council depot.

When is the work happening?

Works began on Monday 30 March 2026.

We are resurfacing sections of Westfield Road, including the parking bays, improving drainage and creating a new junction connecting Westfield Road to the Internal Estate Road network.

Weekend road closures

To allow the works to be completed safely, Westfield Road will be closed at weekends on the following dates:

  • Saturday 22 August – Sunday 23 August 2026
  • Saturday 5 September – Sunday 6 September 2026
  • Saturday 12 September – Sunday 13 September 2026
  • Sunday 20 September – Monday 21 September 2026
  • Saturday 24 October – Sunday 25 October 2026
  • Friday 30 October – Saturday 31 October 2026

Businesses and other users of Westfield Road should follow the temporary traffic management and signed routes in place during these closures. Access arrangements may change as the works progress. Please check on-site signage and this webpage for the latest information.

Supporting local businesses

We recognise that Westfield Road is a busy industrial location. These works are being planned to:

  • Maintain access to businesses wherever possible.
  • Ensure deliveries and servicing can continue where access arrangements allow.
  • Minimise disruption during working hours where possible.

We will continue to engage with affected businesses ahead of key stages of work.

Why this is needed

The changes to Westfield Road are required to:

  • Enable access into the Weyside Urban Village site.
  • Integrate the new development with the existing road network.
  • Provide access to the new Thames Water sewage treatment facility and council depot.
  • Improve road infrastructure for local businesses, services and residents.
