Westfield Road, Slyfield Industrial Estate
HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORT
Westfield Road, Slyfield Industrial Estate
We are transforming the area surrounding the Slyfield Industrial Estate by providing a new Internal Estate Road. The new road will provide access to the new Thames Water sewage treatment facility, and the new council depot.
When is the work happening?
Works began on Monday 30 March.
Project Overview
This phase of the Internal Estate Road involves resurfacing sections of Westfield Road including the parking bays and improving drainage. We are also creating a new junction that connects Westfield Road to the Internal Estate Road network
This work will ensure safe, reliable access for service vehicles, visitors, residents, and connections to key facilities in the area.
Project Status
The first phase of the internal Estate Road project has been completed and Phase Two started on 30 March. This phase is being delivered in two stages.
Westfield Road works
- Stage 1 – Parking bays resurfacing and re‑kerbing
Resurfacing and re‑kerbing of parking bays along Westfield Road. During this stage restrictions will be placed in the affected parking bays so the works can be carried out.
- Stage 2 – Full road resurfacing
Once Stage 1 is complete, part of Westfield Road will be resurfaced. This will bring the road up to the required standards and ensure long term durability. Resurfacing of the section of the Internal Estate Road leading to the new council depot will also be done, after which this section of road will be open to the public.
Construction approach
Works will be carried out in phases to reduce impact on the surrounding area:
- Traffic management will be in place during certain periods
- Temporary lane restrictions may be required
- Clearly signed routes will be provided at all times
Please follow all on‑site instructions and observe posted signs for your safety.
Supporting local businesses
We recognise that Westfield Road is a busy industrial location. These works are being planned to:
- Maintain access to all businesses at all times
- Ensure deliveries and servicing can continue
- Minimise disruption during working hours where possible
We will continue to engage with affected businesses ahead of key stages of work.
Why this is needed
The changes to Westfield Road are required to:
- Enable access into the Weyside Urban Village site
- Integrate the new development with the existing road network
- Provide access to the new Thames Water sewage treatment facility and council depot.
- Improve road infrastructure for local businesses, services, and residents.
