Introduction
In 2024, an application was approved to exchange areas of common land at Stringers Common under Section 16 of the Commons Act 2006. An area at the Woking Road and Moorfield Road junction, west of Slyfield Industrial Estate, has been deregistered and replaced with a larger area at Burpham Court Farm, Jacobs Well Road, Guildford.
Progress update
- New hedgerows and plants have the planted in the area of new common land to boost biodiversity.
- A new gate will make it easier and safer to reach the land.
- A path will connect Jacobs Well Road to the replacement land for walkers.
- Vegetation at the Woking Road and Moorfield Road junction has been cleared. This land is being used to widen the carriageways as part of the Moorfield Junction project. Find out more about Moorfield Junction.
