Slyfield Green and Woodlands Road
HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORT
Slyfield Green Improvements
Is there a map showing where the work is taking place?
Yes. There is a map showing the first phases of the works, with each phase clearly marked to show the location and extent of the planned improvements.
Why does the overall scheme take 39 weeks?
The works are being delivered in phases to minimise disruption for residents, maintain access and ensure safety.
Each phases of the overall scheme involves excavation, utility checks, traffic management and resurfacing, which take time to complete properly. Working around existing homes, businesses and road users means the programme must be carefully managed.
In addition we are pausing work over the Christmas period and this has been included in the overall work programme.
Will parking be affected?
There may be short-term parking restrictions during working hours. Advance notice will be provided if access to driveways or parking bays is ffected.
Can I see the technical drawings?
Yes - the General Arrangement drawing is avaliable to download on this page. The drawing shows the overall design of the scheme such as they overall layout and the position of key structures and access routes.
Work starts on Thursday 30 October 2025
Project Details
Slyfield Green and Woodlands Road will become the access routes to the new homes in the northern part of the site. The access will be for private vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. Before any new homes are built we will be making improvements to the area. They are designed to accommodate increased traffic and create a safer and greener environment.
What we are doing
We are doing a phased programme of works which includes:
- Widening footways to provide safer pedestrian routes
- Installing and upgrading pedestrian crossings with tactile paving for better accessibility
- Creating new parking bays and altering existing layouts
- Introducing new double yellow lines to maintain emergency access and prevent obstructions
- Constructing a mini roundabout and introducing a one-way system around Parrot Court to improve traffic flow and safety
- Refreshing road markings and realigning kerbs where required
- Adding grassed and landscaped areas to enhance the appearance of the street
Work programme
The work is being carried out in phases to minimise disruption.
Phase 1 (30 October to 12 November)
- Extension of parking bays outside Slyfield Court on Slyfield Green
- Construction of a new footpath and pedestrian crossing
Phase 2 (13 November to 26 November)
- Installation of a new uncontrolled pedestrian crossing at the entrance to Jacobs Green, including new road markings
- Extension of parking bays outside Slyfield Court on Waterside Road
Phase 3 (26 November to 10 December)
- Footway widening at the junction of Slyfield Green and Old Farm Road
- Relocation of parking bays to the opposite side of the carriageway at the same junction.
Work will pause over the Christmas period and will restart from Tuesday 6 January 2026. We will provide further updates on the next phases planned for 2026..
Duration: Phases 1 to 3 approximately six weeks. Duration of future phases (2026) approximately 32 weeks.
Working hours: Work will take place Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm
Traffic management
- Temporary signs and barriers will be used to manage traffic and keep pedestrians safe.
- There maybe some short-term parking restrictions in place.
Design
The design of the Slyfield Green improvement scheme formed part of the Weyside Urban Village outline planning application, (2020) which was subject to public consultation. Some variations may have been incorporated into the final design resulting from either the Road Safety Audit and/or feedback from the Highway Authority (Surrey County Council).
There are two General Arrangement drawings for Slyfield Green. These are the final designs and have been approved by the Highway Authority, confirming the scheme complies with all the required safety and functionality standards. They are technical drawings showing the layout, position of key structures, and access routes.
