There will be a programme of overnight road closures on Woking Road (A320) in October and November as part of the ongoing highway works at Moorfield and Woodlands Junctions. The works are being carried out overnight to minimise disruption to traffic during the day.

Planned overnight closures

The closures are currently planned for the following dates:

• Monday 5 October to Friday 9 October: preparatory works between Jacobs Well Road and Moorfield Junction to construct new pedestrian islands.
• Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October: works on the southbound side of Woking Road to upgrade the existing pedestrian crossing.
• Monday 19 October to Friday 23 October: works on the northbound side of Woking Road to complete the pedestrian crossing upgrade.
• Monday 26 October to Tuesday 27 October: preparatory works for the new signalised junction.
• Wednesday 28 October to Friday 30 October and  Monday 16 November to Friday 20 November:  preparatory works for the new signalised junction.

Closures and diversions

The overnight closures will be in place from 9pm to 6am. Traffic management will be removed each morning.

Diversion routes will be in place during the closures, with signs clearly displayed to direct traffic.

The programme may need to change at short notice due to factors such as weather, emergency utility works or unforeseen ground conditions. Any changes will be published on the Weyside Urban Village website.

Looking ahead

Subject to the necessary approvals, installation of the new traffic signals is currently expected to take place from late November into mid-December.

These works form part of the ongoing highway works at Moorfield and Woodlands Junctions, which are being coordinated so that the new traffic signals can operate together.
