Applications to deregister and exchange common land and to carry out restricted works on common land

From Friday 18 November to Friday 16 December 2022 Guildford Borough Council and Surrey County Council, as owners of parts of Stringer’s Common, carried out an informal consultation on their proposal to submit applications to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to:

• Deregister and exchange an area of common land under section 16 of the Common Acts 2006
• Seek consent to carry out restricted works on common land under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006

Feedback from the consultation has been used to inform the applications.  The applications were made to DEFRA on Friday 19 May 2023.  A formal consultation was held from Friday 19 May to Friday 16 June 2023.   

Once the Secretary of State has reviewed the applications they will advise on their decision. The documents relating to the applications are still available to view.
